Tir Abbey is a small farm situated on the back of the Drummau mountain overlooking both the Swansea and Neath Valleys with fantastic panoramic views. The site looks down over the villages of Cimla, Bryncoch, Rhos, Alltwen, as well as the towns of Pontardawe and Neath, but as the site is on a plateau the site cannot be seen by them. Although the farm itself is run as a smallholding, the camp is completely private as it is only adjoined by farm fields and the only road to it is owned by us. So if you are looking for a place just to chill out, relax and unwind, this is the place to be. There is no traffic noise here, just peace and privacy. This is not the place for loud music (hence no car radios allowed). There are no play areas, only open fields and an amazing landscape.
This is a 'back to nature' camping holiday as the only facilities are 2 flush toilets and one electric shower (free),also spring water tap (which is regularly tested). Sorry - there are no electric hook-ups. There are no shops for 3 miles, eggs from our own hens can be bought from the farmhouse. We have plenty of wildlife up here so it is the ideal retreat for artists, birdwatchers, and people who just love the countryside. Dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a lead at all times and their toiletries taken care of, even whilst out on walks.
We allow (and cater for) campfires as long as they are kept directly high off the grass so as not to scorch it and are not left unattended (we wouldn't like to be the cause of a mountain fire!).
